Alright people! I'm going uptown! Mark your calendars now and look for me in the Belk Carolinas' Carrousel Parade on Thanksgiving Day. I'll be marching down the streets of Charlotte along with dancers, elves and other characters from "The Real Christmas Story" with an entourage from NarroWay.
This isn't my first parade appearance. I was there last year and made quite the splash. They say I am the first camel to march down the streets in the entire history of the Carrousel Parade. I guess that makes me a "historical figure" now -- maybe even a great trivia question! And who knows... if other camels enter the parade, then that will make me a "trend-setter!"
I must say, people were rather amazed at how well I handled the event last year. I mean, there were all kinds of loud noises and distractions. You should have seen some of those horses get all excited, raring up and prancing around. But not me. To me it was no big deal. I've been dealing with loud noises, distractions and the unexpected for years now. And you must admit, I am a highly socialized and well mannered -- not to mention intelligent and good-looking -- young lady.
I'm just laid back and easy going. That's my nature... now.
But I haven't always been that way. In fact, I have been known to throw a few temper-tantrums in my younger days. And believe me, you haven't seen a temper-tantrum until you see someone my size throw one!
I can make grown men cry!
But that's all behind me. You see, I've been with NarroWay for 13 years now. And I am quite the professional. If you are going to be in the entertainment business, you have to learn to control your fears and anxieties and simply do what you are supposed to do. So, that's what I did. I wouldn't be usable on stage if I were still throwing those temper-tantrums. So I let go of my pride, fear and stubborness and simply submitted to the one who was leading me. And now... all those things that send others into a tizzy -- the lights, loud noises, sirens, bustling people, sudden movements, restless animals and unexpected surprises--- well they just don't phase me!
So, now - in addition to all I do at NarroWay - I'm going Uptown for the Thanksgiving Day Parade!
Perhaps there's a good lesson here... It's amazing the opportunities that come your way when you let go of all the junk and simply submit to the One who is leading you! Try it today... you might be amazed at where it takes you!
